Hello, my name is Blake. I grew up in the small town of Frankville, Iowa. It could only be described as a town of 'ones'. One bar, one church, one park and one main road that went though town. This is home. I lived in the house that my Mother grew up in and lived just across the street from my Grandmother's house where my Father grew up. It was in this quaint little town where I obtained the foundation that helped construct the man that I am today.
Fast forward to the Spring of 2010. I was 19, living at home with my parents, working at Walmart and going to college. I took a look around and realized that while this was the only home that I had ever truly known, my heart was somewhere else. Bigger. I had made some friends and eventually ended up moving to our great capitol city, Des Moines. That was July 3, 2010. Still living in Des Moines at 26, I am a Senior Analyst for a Fortune 100 insurance company, own my own home with my boyfriend Ryan, and happen to love photography.
It was after I moved to Des Moines that I picked up a camera and really began to fall in love. I do consider this just a hobby and will probably never use photography as a profession. That doesn't mean that I don't still love it.
Enough about my past, though. In 2015, I bought this really cheap, tiny ring light from Amazon. It would eventually become the tool to launch my first #RinglightSelfie project. It was a huge success. The short lived project ended at the end of the year, and for the next two years, echoes would request the resurrection of the project. At the end of 2017, I decided that it was time to surprise my fans and bring back the #RinglightSelfie for 2018. I armed myself with a much better, larger ringlight and I took the background photo of this website to use it for my marketing announcement, "The game has changed." 2018 will be a year of #RinglightSelfie volumes and projects. This time, coffee table books or magazines will be made for purchase so the art can live in the real world. This time, I want to use the ring light to its fullest potential. More than just a headshot can be expected this year. So, be sure to check back and hit the Instagram and Facebook links in the upper left corner to follow me with the most up to date photos.
